School Starts September 10, 2020

September 10

Dear Families of Holy Rosary School,

I am excited and relieved to finally be able to say we have plans in place for reopening this fall. I know many of you have been anxiously waiting – thank you for your patience, grace, and understanding as we diligently worked to put together a School Action Plan.

Throughout this time, flexibility and adaptability will be essential. We will be following all state and federal guidelines; as they change, our School Action Plan will adjust. We will be seeking input continually from our school families, evaluating our circumstances, reflecting on the health and well-being of our students and staff, and adapting to unforeseen changes, to assure a quality education and a safe environment for our school family.  We can share this plan with you today, but it is important for you to know that realistically, pieces of it could look differently by the time we start school on September 10, due to changing guidelines and the health status of our local community at any given time.  When any changes are made to our Action Plan, those revisions will be communicated, immediately.

We recognize that students learn and develop best when there is in-person interaction between students and teachers. It has become our priority, as a school, to develop and implement protocols and procedures that will allow our students to come back to the building for in-person instruction, and learn from a distance when conditions don’t allow them to be in the school.  Please take the time to carefully read the following documents that relate to Holy Rosary’s plans for the fall:

  1. Holy Rosary’s Quick Guide to Reopening (a comprehensive overview of our reopening plan)
  2. Holy Rosary’s Action Plan for Reopening  (the full, detailed plan for reopening)
  3. Preschool Distance Learning Plan  (the distance learning plan for preschool students, if the need arises)
  4. K-8 Distance Learning Plan (the distance learning plan for k-8 students, if the need arises)
  5. MN Dept. of Health Decision Tree (guidance that we will utilize regarding COVID-19 symptoms and illness)
  6. Minnesota Catholic School Return to School Guidance (the guidance provided to MN Catholic schools to plan for reopening)

While the return to school can bring much excitement, it can also be accompanied by angst related to the unknown. Please read the details of our Action Plan carefully and contact me if necessary.  I will do my best to answer your questions and provide feedback related to your thoughts. In addition, if your child/family does not intend to return to Holy Rosary for in-person instruction in September due to health or other related concerns, I kindly ask that you contact me by Monday, August 10, so we can plan appropriately for the fall.

As we move forward and navigate this new school year together, please maintain that same patience, grace, and understanding that you displayed over the course of the past 5 months, and know that the staff at Holy Rosary is grateful for your support!

May God bless you and your family today and always!

Cathy Larson, HRS Principal
